The last couple of miles to us, from the main roads with public services, are country lanes, sometimes so narrow as to require passing spaces. There could be a cyclist, a horse and rider, or a walker with a dog or child around the next bend, equally there could be large, slow-moving farm machinery or loose stock on the road, so please drive carefully.
Ample off-road parking for vehicles is right next to The Barn. You can enter the property from here, up a couple of steps or, with a wheelchair or pushchair take the easy, wide slope round to the other side of the building and go in through the sliding door over a slight threshold. Once inside the single storey accommodation is level throughout and floored with terracotta tiles. There are loose rugs in each room, but these can be lifted if necessary. One bedroom has standard access with a shower cubicle in the en-suite bathroom. The other bedroom has wheelchair access to the beds and the en-suite wet-room. This is ideal for cleaning off children, but for the benefit of guests with disabilities some aids, including grab rails, wet and dry shower seats, low level shower and hand-basin, have been installed. We have been assessed as meeting the requirements for M1 and M2 and have other aids available e.g. toilet seat risers, so please contact us to discuss any specific needs.
The kitchen is not modified for use from a wheelchair but is suitable for someone able to stand with support.
Access to the dog exercise area, the refuse bins and the swimming pool involves either one or two steps which are not currently ramped. Please call to discuss your requirements.
